Issue Position

I am committed to protecting Pennsylvania's land, water, and natural resources. Our environment is the legacy we pass on to the next generation and we must do everything possible to ensure that it remains unspoiled. Marcellus Shale can create thousands of jobs in Pennsylvania but it must be done in a responsible way that guarantees that our water is drinkable, our air is breathable, and our land is left in better condition than we found it.

Governor Corbett and Rep. Boback have refused to hold gas companies accountable. They have not enacted reasonable policies as surrounding states have done.

We must:

Enact a gas tax on Marcellus drilling - this will help the individual taxpayer by taking the burden off of them.

Work with local residents to create common sense drilling practices.

Use the "Best Practices for Drilling" to prevent accidents.

Protect our communities from the side effects of drilling.
